Description
Purple Berberis thunbergii (atropurpurea) is a similar shrub to Green Berberis, but with a slightly more compact form.
Purple Berberis also makes an excellent spiny hedge. The leaves are pale red when young, turning rich purple in summer,
then crimson pink in autumn. Clip in early summer, after flowering. Works well when mixed with Green Berberis.
