Eucryphia
Eucryphia nymansensis - 'Nymansay'
Plant Characteristics:
Probably the best-known of the Eucryphias, this could perhaps be called the queen of all flowering evergreen Shrubs. From late summer to early fall, at a time when few flowering trees are doing their thing, this shrub is covered completely in large, anemone-like, white flowers. The dark green, compound leaves are unique in shape and make the plant quite interesting even out of bloom. This hardy plant grows with a strong and distinct shape and grows into a large and dominant plant. It requires a acid, neutral, alkaline, moist, rich and well drained soil, preferring full sun, and a position free standing. This plant is likely to need pruning.
Plant Strengths:
Evergreen foliage for all year round colour and screening; Architectural plant – ideal as a ‘stand out’ plant; Attractive form or foliage for all year interest.
